  1. Dana,
I’m constructing the tie tree skirt posted on 12/14/2016.
I have the ties auditioned but I’m not sure exactly how to proceed in attaching them properly. I can’t quite figure out the overlapping. Should I cut off the ends before I start pinning them and attaching them?

I would appreciate a telephone call and then perhaps we can do some texting with pictures if necessary. I am available the rest of today and tomorrow until about 1:00. I hope to hear from you soon.

    Thank you.

    • Hi Deborah,
I did not cut the ties on the sides. I did not want to distort the ties and complicate it. Keep it simple. Auditioning the ties is great because you can adjust them to make the circle part that wraps around the tree base. I pinned them next to each other and layered them one at a time in a circle leaving the last ties (opening) just overhanging the muslin base. I overlapped them ever so slightly and topstitched on to the muslin base fabric. I did cut up one tie to make the binding around the small circle that goes around the tree base which then becomes the way to tie a bow around the base of the tree.
I hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions.
